Trinity Theatre is hosting the Incurable Optimist – A Comedy Night with Paul Mayhew-Archer MBE, Co-Writer of the Vicar of Dibley
When comedy writer Paul Mayhew-Archer was told he had Parkinson’s he refused to take the condition too seriously. Instead he started doing jokes about it, with appearances at the Royal Albert Hall and the Comedy Store. Best known as the co-writer of The Vicar of Dibley, Mrs Brown’s Boys and Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot, amongst many others. In 2015 Paul made an award-winning documentary about Parkinson’s called Parkinson’s – The Funny Side.
Incurable Optimist is an inspiring show about the therapeutic power of comedy and laughter from a man who is not contagious, but is well worth catching! Paul talks about his 40 year comedy career and the funny side of Parkinson’s. This is probably the best and only chance you have of seeing Paul perform in our area, so, please don’t miss the opportunity to see this highly talented and infectiously hilarious man on your doorstep.
‘Paul isn’t just one of the country’s funniest writers. It turns out he’s also a brilliant performer.’ Josh Widdicombe.
‘So funny… and true in the way only comedy can express.’ Rory Bremner
Paul does not take a fee for his show and all profits will be going to Parkinson’s UK and Parkinson’s South West Walking Football.
There will be a raffle on the night (please bring cash) with superb prizes. Parking and wheelchair access is available on-site.
