There’s nothing I like better than spending an evening wandering around Cowes and East Cowes as there’s so much to do and see. The trouble is it makes me hungry!
After some time it was decided by Mrs. IloveCowes that we should get some food and that’s where the real journey started. Should we eat in (West) Cowes or cross over to East Cowes? Should we go for a restaurant or a pub or even a takeaway? How much shall we eat? OK, that last question was just me!
After consulting our list of places to eat on IloveCowes.com we settled on having a drink first while we made our mind up so we popped into the Island Sailing Club. This is one of our favourite watering holes as you can enjoy a tasty refreshment whilst looking out over the harbour and East Cowes. I never get tired of reminding myself that I live on an island so a sea view is great therapy for me.
We consulted the menu and would have stayed but for the fact that there was a large event on downstairs so the staff were extremely busy dealing with those guests. On any other night we can highly recommend the Island Sailing Club for a tasty meal for two or a larger gathering.
In the end we decided to stroll round to try out the Yachstman on the Parade and I’m glad we did.
It was fairly quiet on our arrival but began to fill up despite us. We were even treated to live music from Atticus which was advertised on our Gig Guide. The food was good quality pub food with an Eton mess to beat so many I have tried. Service was excellent and the beer was nice too.
This is one of those venues that has a view of the sea and, on a warm evening, you can sit outside and watch the world go by so it’s definitely worth a visit although I don’t think Matt & Cat have reviewed it yet.
