Clare Bowen

I am a landscape and seascape artist who paints across the Isle of Wight. I like to paint en plein air to capture the feeling of the place and to celebrate the sense of space which can be enjoyed across the Island. I frequently revisit the same places to consider how they change with the changing tides, season, or light.

I largely paint with oils or acrylics, appreciating their fluidity and the ability to layer colours to reflect the abundance of nature. I typically work with a palette knife to encourage a fresh, immediate style, sometimes leaning towards abstraction.

I will be open each weekend and Bank Holiday Monday between 12.00 and 4.00.

I will be teaching a beginners’ acrylics workshop on Saturday 24th August and Saturday 31st August 10.00-12.00. Contact me for further information and to book a place.
